A great trip to Halong Bay
rganguly, Jan 2020
We had a small group tour, which ended up as a private tour because the other tourists cancelled the trip. The van was very comfortable. The driver drove carefully. The guide, Chin, was very good in giving information about Vietnam history.
Very Good

My wife and i selected a small group tour for Ha long bay. When we finally found our tour guide it was at the Hanoi Opera house. There was a mix-up We assumed They would pick us up but no. We had to go to them. This as it turned out was rather silly as we were the only two on the tour and the pickup was about 4 or 5 streets away from our hotel. The Tour Guide was from "Urban Adventures - Indochina". And the Guide stayed with us the entire time. His name was" My" and was called Mike. He was very knowledgeable, polite and very friendly. I do wish all the guide were like him. Seemed odd to just be two people in a large Van and on the large boat. But Mike said his company guaranteed the tour even when the group turned out to be so small. We had a great time it poured down rain we got soaked and the tour continued into the cave. I must admit the Vietnamese really thought about the tourist making sure the stair leading to the cave and walking areas inside the cave were very safe. Even for senior Citizens. Mike did a great job the whole time with a narration about the islands and cave. Super time Thanks Mike
Happy to finally see this place!

Everything was great! Professionally conducted, informative, good food, comfy transportation, beautiful islands in the ocean...

This is a great trip if the weather is nice. Unfortunately, we had a cloudy day. The cave we visited was beautiful. Our guide did an excellent job and everything was very well arranged. This is a must do when visiting Hanoi.
excellent tour

We thoroughly enjoyed the trip. It was really small group with efficient tour guide. we have plenty of time in Halong bay although it was a single day trip.
Wonderful day

We went with Urban Advebtures on this trip. First of all their team is wonderful. San was with us and explained everything clearly and with great passion. He loves his country and by the time he is done you will too. Great trip. Clean bus. Smooth driver Mr. Hill. Good food on the boat. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed this trip immensely, was guided by Tam who is first class, she knows her history, geography and is an all round superb host - nothing was too much trouble. Her English and manner is a credit to Vietnam, the people and the nation - couldn’t recommend the tour more!

I really was looking for a more private group tour and this tour more than exceeded my expectation. My wife and I were the only two in the group! Our guide -- Chinh -- and the driver who were friendly and helpful showed up in Toyota Innova and took us on a smooth ride to Halong Bay. Initially we thought we would meet other people on the boat, but to our even further surprise we were the only two guests on the boat too. The service, the boat and the food were nice, the weather on that day not so as it was foggy but nothing anyone could control.

This was a great tour. Our guide, Hoa, was awesome! She had plenty of information to offer about Vietnamese culture during the long drive, and about Halong Bay and its caves etc. during the actual tour. Her English was great, and not only was she very informative, but very friendly with a great sense of humor. There were only 3 of us in the tour group, and Hoa seemed genuinely interested in getting to know us and making our trip fun. The food on the boat was delicious beverages are excluded but we knew about that ahead of time, so that was no big deal, just make sure you have some money on you. It was a cloudy day, but we still got some breathtaking views of beautiful Halong Bay. The reason I didn't give this tour 5 stars is because of the pushy salespeople we encountered. One was at the handicraft outlet on the way there the items she showed us were nice but not worth 2 million VND. She followed us until someone else who worked there started talking to her. The second one was a member of the service crew on the boat towards the end of the tour, she came up to the boat deck with a bunch of jewelry for sale, and because I was the only woman on the tour, all her attention was focused on me. I had to ask Hoa to politely tell her I wasn't interested. Then when we went back downstairs, she tried to sell us Vietnamese silks. She seemed a little annoyed when we said no thanks. So overall, it is definitely a worthwhile tour that I recommend booking, but may I suggest mentioning to your guide that you are not interested in purchasing anything, just to avoid any awkwardness. And dress warmly if you're there in the winter!
Nice tour once we got picked up...

Nice tour once we got picked up. The original bus broke down so we had to wait 2 hours. So communication from the tour company either. We have to have the hotel call them twice for updates. Then the bus driver drove crazy. Didn't even slow down for speed bumps. People were bunching all over. I understand they were trying to make the time up, but it wasn't necessary. The Halong Bay trip was beautiful once we go there. Great tour if they show up on time with a working bus. :

The drive is very boring with minimal conversation. I slept 90% of the way. Once there the boats are in really bad shape, 'junk' is a fitting term. You won't get to see the '2000' stone outcrops, you get to the see short stay one day trip little corner only of 10%. The water was also filthy.

Met our expectation completely. The guide, Tuan, was extremely nice and helpful with very good English, sharing interesting details about Vietnam and Halong Bay on every possible occasion. Ask for Tuan as the guid if you can!

Not really the fault of the tour company but you spend half of the time just getting back and forth to Halong Bay from Hanoi, that the boat tour is relatively short. Also the food looked less appealing vs many boats that we passed by

pick up is on time. since the distance from Hanoi to halong is 182 Km, expect long hours on the road than on the bay. the van is comfortable with ample leg space, not crowded. Guide is very knowledgeable and friendly. No problems encountered during the tour.

This is a must do Tour in Hanoi. The tour was well organised, we drived about 2.5hours and stopped for toilet break then continued our journey to Halong Bay, we then spent around 3 hours on the cruise includin hiking to 2 caves. Our tour guide Lucky From Urban Adv was so nice and friendly, he shared with us lot of infomartion pertians to the Halong Bay. The lunch on the boat was really nice too: Despite the long driving hours, it is still worth the trip to Halong Bay and this one day trip will give you the highlight of the Halong Bay if you do not have more days to spend. Btw, it is important to booked a smalled group tour as the traffic in Old Quarter was so bad and the pick up during the morning may take very long, as such if you dun want to spend 1 hour sit on the coach and circle around the Old Quarter, choose a small group tour.

We had a great time on this tour despite being a little unlucky with the weather (it was still way worth it). The scenery is incredible and the tour team (driver, our guide Lucky and the boat crew) were awesome. Lunch was really tasty and the boat was spacious. Awesome tour - highly recommended!

Halong Bay is an amazing place and a must-see. Lunch and cave were great. This tour is handy if you have a short trip and are slipping Halong Bay in while in Hanoi. It is a long bus ride there and back but our guide Lee provided some interesting insight into the region as we passed different areas.
